On January 26th 2025, FALASTIN collaborated with the Concordia Student Union (CSU) to present Gaza In Focus — a sold-out photography event that spotlighted the work of Palestinian photojournalist Hossam Anwar. Hosted at Eera Café Art Gallery, the evening raised over $2,500 to support Anwar’s continued work in Gaza.

Event Highlights

The event brought together students, artists, and supporters to witness the resilience of Gaza through the lens of Hossam Anwar, a 25-year-old photographer whose work captures life under siege with raw authenticity. On display were 13 of Anwar’s photographs — printed and framed for the first time — documenting the human side of Gaza often left out of mainstream headlines. In a dimly lit gallery, attendees moved between images of destroyed buildings, makeshift shelters, and quiet moments of reflection. The evening also included speeches from organizers and community members, a short film produced by Anwar, and a touching tribute to his late friend and fellow photographer, Muhannad Khaled, who was killed during an Israeli airstrike. FALASTIN took part by showcasing pieces from its latest collection, with proceeds contributing to the donation total. The event was a rare moment of pause and solidarity — an opportunity to remember, reflect, and act.
